Andrea Ayassot – Alfonso Santimone – Giulio Corini – Nelide Bandello
The concert, recorded on 15 February 2020 during a short tour, testifies to the happy collaboration between the Piedmontese saxophonist Andrea Ayassot, whose uniqueness as a composer (documented in the numerous publications of the Quilibrì project) and as a performer has been widely recognized, and the piano trio Eat The Worm, formed within the collective El Gallo Rojo and at ease both in free improvisation and in more formal music.
Beyond its complex intellectual and almost sci-fi assumptions, Ayassot’s music amazes us with its naturalistic, almost tribal dimension, endowed with a candor and unexpected simplicity, almost as if crossing an ultra-modern hi-tech portal we found ourselves in a village in the equatorial forest inhabited by an indigenous tribe dating back to the Iron Age. It combines the experience of the alien and the ancestral and fully restores its author’s vision of the world, a mystical idealism, the sense of communion with nature, the utopia of symbiosis in a horizontal and spontaneous social structure.
